A Massachusetts woman is facing multiple charges after an incident on a local highway.

According to police, on Sunday, at just before 9:30 p.m., the Portsmouth Police Department arrested 33-year-old Kaleigh Maraglia from Bridgewater, MA for driving under the influence of alcohol with a child under the age of 13 as a passenger.

A Portsmouth Police officer observed a vehicle traveling northbound on Route 24 near Sprague Street. The officer observed the vehicle following too closely to another car, improperly changing lanes, and drifting between lane dividers which prompted the officer to stop the vehicle.

Officers identified the operator as Kaleigh Maraglia. Also in the vehicle was an 8-year-old juvenile passenger. Officers spoke with Maraglia and observed multiple signs of alcohol impairment to include the odor of alcohol emanating from her breath. Maraglia submitted to field sobriety testing, which she failed, and was placed under arrest. During a search of the vehicle, officers found open alcohol containers. Maraglia was transported to the Portsmouth Police Headquarters where she consented to a chemical breath test which she also failed.

Kaleigh Maraglia was charged with DUI of Liquor/Drugs – .10-.15 BAC and with DUI of Liquor/Drugs – Child < 13 Passenger. Maraglia was issued R.I. Traffic Tribunal citations, a district court summons, and was released with a scheduled arraignment at the 2nd Division District Court for June 3, 2025.
