A Massachusetts man killed after a two-vehicle collision is being remembered.

According to authorities, at approximately 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Norwell Police began to receive multiple 911 calls for reports of a crash between a truck and a motorcycle in the area of 111 Pond Street. Norwell Police and Fire responded and located a Toyota Tacoma truck and a Kawasaki motorcycle. The motorcycle operator was suffering from apparent serious injuries. He was transported to South Shore Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. He has been identified as 28-year-old Jacob Foss of Pembroke. The operator of the Toyota Tacoma was also transported to South Shore Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. He is not being identified at this time.

The crash remains under investigation, but preliminarily, it appears the Toyota truck was traveling east to west on Pond Street before attempting to take a left turn into a business establishment. While attempting the turn, the truck was struck on the passenger side door by the Kawasaki motorcycle operated by Foss.

According to an obituary, Foss was a Marine and worked as a police officer for the MBTA transit police and Hingham Police prior to changing careers. He had a deep love for animals and nature and had a passion for motorcycles and weightlifting. Jake was described as having a big heart, was compassionate, generous, energetic, and a big teddy bear. His smile lit up the room and he will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday 11/14/2024 from 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Funeral Mass will be Friday 11/15/2024 in Church of the Resurrection, Hingham at 10 AM. Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jake may be made to the Scituate Animal Shelter, 780 Chief Justice Cushing Highway, Scituate, MA 02066.
