Police in Massachusetts have arrested multiple teens after an incident with a homeless man this past weekend.

According to police, on Saturday just before 7:00 p.m., Worcester Police officers were dispatched to Elm Park for a report of several youth trying to fight someone.

Officers arrived on scene and discovered that a homeless man had been harassed by several youths, who were pushing him, taunting him, and taking his hat. Some bystanders intervened to protect the man and called the police. Officers issued a BOLO with the description of the youths and checked the area.

As officers checked the area, they observed four youth who matched the description given by witnesses. The youth were running from the police through the yards of residential homes in an apparent attempt to evade being detained. After a brief foot pursuit, officers caught up with one of the males, who was placed in handcuffs. The youth, who was 17 years old, was placed under arrest and charged with Assault and Battery, Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest.

An officer caught up with a second 17-year-old youth, who resisted an officer’s attempt to detain him by elbowing the officer in the chest. Officers were able to place him under arrest. The second youth is charged with Disorderly Conduct and Assault and Battery on a Police Officer.
