Massachusetts teen charged in friend’s death released on bail after fatal crash

A Massachusetts teen is being charged with the death of one of his friends.

18-year-old Brian Ramirez Nunez was charged Friday in connection with the death of 18-year-old Travis Teixeira of Ashburnham.

According to Massachusetts State Police, Troopers responded on the evening of March 20th after a vehicle traveling eastbound on Route 2 in Leominster plunged off an overpass and fell onto Nashua Street below.

Three people were inside the car when it went off the roadway. Teixeira was killed in the crash. The other two occupants were seriously injured and transported to area hospitals.

According to family and a GoFundMe fundraiser, Teixeira “had always been such a great kid with a huge heart, a great athlete, an incredibly smart young man who got into every college he applied to. He was filled with passion, justice and light. A light the world needed.” Others described him as friendly and a hard worker who had worked at the Blueprint Restaurant in Westminster and had big goals and dreams.

Court records show that Nunez was the driver of the vehicle and was arraigned in Leominster District Court on Monday on Motor Vehicle Homicide by Reckless Operation.

He posted $1,000 cash bail and has a pretrial hearing scheduled for September 4th.
