Massachusetts teacher held on bail after being accused of distributing child sexual abuse material
BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher Delmonte reports that Bridgewater Police Detectives and Task Force Officers arrested a Bridgewater man Friday on possession of child pornography charges following a month-long investigation.
At approximately 6:00 a.m., Bridgewater Police Detectives and Task Force Officers, with assistance from members of the WEB Task Force and the Massachusetts State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, executed a search warrant at 26-year-old Robert Wood’s residence. Subsequently, Wood was taken into custody.
Bridgewater Police Detectives are members of the ICAC Task Force, which investigates cases involving child sexual abuse material.
The investigation began when police received information that Wood was allegedly in possession of and distributing child sexual abuse material. Bridgewater Police ICAC investigators received a cyber tip regarding a social media account possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material files.
Wood was taken into custody without incident and was taken to the Bridgewater Police Department to be booked.
He was arrested and charged with Possession of Child Pornography and Distributing Material of a Child in a Sexual Act.
Wood was arraigned in Brockton District Court where he pled not guilty and was being held on $5,000 cash bail.
He has been a substitute teacher in the district.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
