Massachusetts teacher and mother of 5 who left mark throughout the state dies suddenly
A woman who has left her mark from northern to southern Massachusetts has died.
Alanna Keohane Maida of Foxboro passed away suddenly on Wednesday.
Maida was a fourth-grade teacher at a Potter Road School in Framingham where co-workers and parents described her as a dedicated and sincere educator who was also an amazing, sweet, and wonderful person.
While Maida’s impact as a teacher was far reaching, she is probably most known for being an Irish Step Dancing teacher which led her to touch dancers from across and up and down the state. She also ran the Hansen Keohane School for 17 years in Dedham.
Passing on her knowledge was a passion for Alanna, but what meant the most to her was her 5 children Michaela, Kylie, Dylan, Devin and Ryan, the youngest of which is a champion dancer.
A GoFundMe fundraiser has been created to aid her children in the days to come.
Visitation is at the P.E. Murray-F.J. Higgins, George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 2000 Centre St. West Roxbury on Tuesday, September 24, from 4-8PM. The Funeral Mass will take place at St. John Chrysostom Church, West Roxbury on Wednesday, September 25, at 11AM.
A cause of death was not immediately available.
