Massachusetts Statehouse passes flavored tobacco ban, vaping tax
The Massachusetts Senate passed a bill Wednesday evening that will ban all flavored tobacco products and also impose a tax on vaping/e-cigarette products, pending Governor Baker’s signature.
The Massachusetts House of Representatives had the measure approved last Wednesday.
In addition to banning the sale of flavored tobacco products, the bill includes a 75% excise tax on e-cigarettes and expands coverage for tobacco cessation.
Massachusetts would be the first state in the country to ban flavored tobacco.
John Kennan, who sponsored the Senate amendment to the House bill, reacted after the passage.
