Massachusetts State Police, Westport Fire Department discover dead body after car bursts into flames on Route 195
A driver was killed early this morning in a fiery crash on Route 195 in Westport.
According to scanner transmissions, Massachusetts State Police and the Westport Fire Department responded to Route 195 just prior to exit 16 (Route 88) after a call came in just before 2:15 a.m. for a car on fire.
Upon arrival, crews discovered a vehicle engulfed in flames with concerns that the flames would get into the wood line.
The fire was under control just before 2:30 a.m. when a dead body was discovered in the vehicle.
MSP detectives, Crime Scene personnel and crash reconstruction personnel responded to process the scene.
The scene was cleared shortly after 5:30 a.m.
The cause of the crash and the identity of the occupant in the vehicle are both under investigation.
