Crews responded to a fiery multi-vehicle highway crash Friday morning.

According to the Swansea Fire Department, at approximately 5:30 a.m., Swansea Fire and EMS personnel, along with state and local police, responded to a fiery three car accident on Interstate 195 West.

Arriving units found vehicles had left the roadway on both sides of the westbound travel lanes. One vehicle was about 30 feet into woods along the right side of the highway and was fully involved. The driver of that vehicle was assisted from the vehicle by passing motorists.

Another vehicle had continued through the median nearly entering oncoming eastbound travel lanes.

One patient was transported to Rhode Island Hospital and two were taken to Charlton Memorial Hospital.

An ambulance from Rehoboth also responded. The department stated that all injuries appeared to be minor in nature.

The crash is under investigation.
