Massachusetts State Police stop and charge Route 195 wrong-way driver
Massachusetts State Police recently stopped and arrested a wrong-way highway driver on the South Coast.
According to the State Police Association of Massachusetts, on Saturday, two Troopers responded to calls of a wrong-way operator that was traveling from Fall River on Route 195. Just minutes later, a Trooper came dangerously close to being struck by the driver as he barreled towards the cruiser head on.
Stop sticks were then deployed at the Fairhaven underpass on Route 240, and the driver who was traveling against traffic struck them.
Even while driving on all rims the operator continued traveling at approximately 20-30mph. Finally, the operator struck a second set of stop sticks which eventually caused the vehicle to stop and the driver was placed into custody on charges including OUI Liquor, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Failure to Stop as well as other violations of the auto laws.
The name of the suspect was not released.
