Massachusetts State Police say missing 71-year-old man found dead
A missing Massachusetts man has been found dead.
According to Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 8:30 a.m. today, a DCR Ranger at the Quabbin Reservoir observed a body in the lower section of the Reservoir’s spillway, approximately 20 feet from shore.
Divers from the Massachusetts State Police responded and recovered the deceased adult male. Investigators from the Sturbridge Police Department and the State Police subsequently confirmed the deceased to be George Guttler, 71, of Sturbridge, who was reported missing by his family on March 11. In the days that followed him going missing, state and local police agencies, along with DCR employees, conducted numerous searches for Guttler by land, air, and water.
The investigation into Guttler’s death is ongoing and is being led by the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office and the State Police Detective Unit for Hampshire/Franklin Counties.
