Massachusetts State Police: Rhode Island man killed, another seriously injured in Bristol County highway crash
One man has died, and another was seriously injured after a highway crash Monday morning in Bristol County.
According to Trooper James DeAngelis of Massachusetts State Police, just before 9:30 a.m., Troopers responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash with one vehicle that left the roadway into the trees on Route 95 South at 9.4 mile marker in Mansfield.
The Mansfield Fire Department arrived on scene and extracted two occupants, with life threatening injuries, from the vehicle that went off the road. The vehicle, a 2013 Toyota Venza, was operated by a 28-year-old man with a 26-year-old male passenger, both from Pawtucket, R.I. The operator succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The passenger was transported to Rhode Island Hospital in serious condition.
The State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, Troop H Detective Unit, and Bristol County Detective Unit also responded.
The right breakdown lane and right lane were closed during the crash reconstruction.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notifications of next of kin.
