Massachusetts State Police respond to I-195 in Swansea for truck rollover with serious injuries that shut down highway
Crews responded Saturday morning to a crash with injuries on a local highway.
According to Massachusetts State Police Interim Director of Media Relations Tim McGuirk, at approximately 8:00 a.m., a dump truck rolled over on Interstate 195 West in Swansea.
The accident resulted in serious injuries that prompted Swansea Fire to request a MedFlight.
All lanes in both directions closed for approximately 25 minutes. After the MedFlight departed, eastbound travel lanes reopened along with the far-left westbound lane.
According to the Swansea Fire Department, Swansea Ambulance worked for nearly 30 minutes to stabilize and extricate the patient after the vehicle left the roadway.
State Police remain on scene to support MassDOT officials working to repair the guardrail.
