Massachusetts State Police respond to fatal head-on crash on Route 6

Authorities are investigating a fatal Cape Cod crash that took place on Thursday afternoon.

Just before 5:30 p.m., a call came into dispatch for a head-on two vehicle crash with injures at mile marker 84.1 on Route 6 westbound in Harwich.

Medflight was requested but was not available due to weather.

At least one person had to be extricated from a vehicle by Harwich personnel.

The name of the deceased was not released.

The road was shut down in both directions.

The DA’s Office stated that the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office responded to the scene.

The matter remains under investigation.
