Massachusetts State Police release name of man killed in fatal multi-vehicle crash
A Massachusetts man is dead and another injured after a two-vehicle highway crash.
According to Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, patrols from the State Police-Norwell Barracks responded to calls reporting a serious crash on Route 3 southbound near exit 38 in Weymouth.
Upon arrival, Troopers came upon a two-car crash involving a 2008 Nissan Altima and a GMC pickup truck. The Altima’s operator, Patrick Mulligan, 60, of Weymouth, was transported to South Shore Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The operator of the Sierra was also transported with minor injuries.
Preliminary investigation determined that the Altima struck the Sierra and then rolled over.
The right travel and breakdown lanes of Route 3 were closed for 2 hours to facilitate recovery and cleanup.
The crash remains under investigation by the State Police-Norwell Barracks with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
