Massachusetts State Police release name of man killed in crash on Route 495

A Bristol County man has died after a multi-vehicle highway crash on Monday morning.
According to Tim McGuirk of Massachusetts State Police Media Relations, shortly after 10:45 a.m., Troopers assigned to the Middleboro Barracks responded to a serious crash in Taunton involving 2 tractor trailers on Interstate 495 south (mile marker 24).
Taunton Fire and EMS responded to the scene and pronounced one of the operators dead at the scene. The other driver did not sustain injuries.
Several State Police assets responded to investigate the crash, including the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section, the Bristol County Detective Unit, the Crime Scene Services, and the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
For the safety of motorists and first responders, MassDOT officials closed the center, right, and breakdown lanes for approximately 5 hours.
The decedent is identified as Michael Sarnie, 60, of Mansfield.
McGuirk offered condolences to his family.
The cause of the crash remains undetermined at this time.
