Massachusetts State Police release name of 59-year-old man killed in highway crash
A Massachusetts man is dead after a weekend highway crash.
According to Dave Procopio of Massachusetts State Police, shortly after midnight on Saturday, Massachusetts State Police Troopers responded to a single-vehicle rollover on Route 93 in Boston that resulted in a fatality.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2015 Jeep Compass was northbound on Route 93, approaching Exit 17. Prior to the exit, for reasons still under investigation, the operator lost control of the Jeep and crashed into a wall on the western edge of road. The vehicle came to rest on its passenger side.
The unbelted operator, the Jeep’s sole occupant, was determined to be deceased on scene by responding emergency personnel. He is identified as Robert Smith, 59, of Cambridge.
The crash remains under investigation by Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police, the State Police Detective Unit for Suffolk County, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
