Massachusetts State Police release details on fiery fatal Route 24 crash
One person is dead, and another injured in a serious crash on Friday morning.
According to Massachusetts State Police, just after 3:00 a.m. today Massachusetts State Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 24 north in West Bridgewater that resulted in the death of the operator.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2017 Ford Explorer was northbound traveling at a high rate of speed when, for reasons still under investigation, it went off the right side of the road and struck a tree. The Explorer caught fire with the operator trapped inside. The driver, a 43-year-old male from Brockton, was determined to be deceased at the scene. The passenger, a 40-year-old female from Taunton, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital with minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the State Police-Middleborough Barracks, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, State Police Crime Scene Services Section and the State Police Detective Unit for Plymouth County.
