Crews are searching for a person who jumped off of a bridge in Massachusetts on Friday.

According to police, on Friday, at approximately 9:52 a.m., officers from the Bourne Police Department, along with Troopers from the Massachusetts State Police, and Bourne Fire Department responded to the area of the Sagamore Bridge for a report of a party who may have jumped from the bridge.

Arriving officers began a search of the area both surrounding the bridge, as well as the waterway, but were unable to locate anyone.

The investigation tragically revealed that a person had jumped from the bridge and ended up in the waterway. Additional marine resources from the Bourne Department of Natural Resources, Sandwich Fire Department, US Army Corps of Engineers, and the US Coast Guard have been brought into the area and continue to search for this missing person. The ongoing investigation is being handled by the Massachusetts State Police.
