Massachusetts State Police, other agencies, capture man wanted for allegedly killing girlfriend’s 2-year-old son
A man wanted for killing a 2-year-old boy has been captured in Massachusetts.
According to NBC4, Dioblis Williams, a 25-year-old fugitive, was captured by the U.S. Marshals Service District of Massachusetts Fugitive Task Force in Framingham on Wednesday.
The arrest stemmed from a warrant issued just a week prior for the murder of Ja’mir Jones in Columbus, Ohio, in 2020, following tips that Williams was hiding in the area.
The operation involved coordination with the Columbus Police Department, the USMS Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team, Massachusetts State Police, and other local agencies.
On March 25, 2020, Williams was babysitting his girlfriend’s son, Ja’mir Jones, at an apartment on Holt Avenue in north-central Columbus.
He called police after finding the toddler unresponsive in a bathtub, claiming the boy had an accident in his pull-up and was left unsupervised while bathing.
Jones was rushed to Nationwide Children’s Hospital and pronounced dead.
An autopsy revealed the cause of death was not drowning but blunt force trauma, including abdominal injuries, multiple internal injuries, and bruising around the head and neck—consistent with a beating.
According to MyFox28, Williams has a criminal history, including misdemeanor domestic violence in 2023, and in 2020: misdemeanor assault, riot to commit misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct.
In April 2024, he was charged in Fort Myers, Florida, with aggravated assault with a weapon without intent to kill, after allegedly threatening a man with a box-cutter knife at a bus stop while yelling threats and stating he was “not afraid to go to jail.”
Williams was arraigned in Massachusetts as a fugitive from justice and is awaiting extradition to Ohio to face murder charges.
