Massachusetts State Police, multiple local fire and EMS respond to head-on collision on Route 495

Multiple people were injured early Sunday morning after a serious multi-vehicle highway crash.

According to the Mansfield Firefighter Union, at just after 2:15 a.m., Engine 32, Rescue 36, Foxboro Ladder 26, and Foxboro Rescue 27 were dispatched to Route 495 Southbound in Mansfield for a reported motor vehicle accident.

On arrival companies found 2 cars with heavy damage in an apparent head on collision, possible a wrong way driver.

Both vehicle occupants were transported to level 1 trauma centers with critical injuries.

The crash is under investigation.
