Massachusetts State Police make arrest after wrong-way driver leads to highway pursuit

A Massachusetts man is facing multiple charges after an alleged incident on Friday.

According to Massachusetts State Police, shortly after 4:00 a.m., State Police assigned to the Holden Barracks responded to multiple reports of a wrong way driver on Interstate 290 who was traveling east in the westbound lanes at the 27.2 mile marker.

Troopers traveled in the correct direction on the highway, spotted the vehicle, and initiated a traffic stop.  The vehicle avoided Police and continued on Route 85 in Marlboro traveling in the proper lane.

When the vehicle continued to fail to stop, State Police initiated a pursuit which was discontinued when the vehicle traveled onto Technology Drive in Hudson. State Police notified local police counterparts and staged at Route 85 where the vehicle returned a short time later and eventually entered a parking lot on Washington Street in Hudson.

Troopers took the operator into custody without further incident. He is identified as Saul Joseph Jr, 26, of Beverley and will face charges including failure to stop, negligent operation, and operating under the influence (drugs).
