Massachusetts State Police looking for public’s help after construction worker suffers serious injuries in hit-and-run highway crash
An early morning incident has left a construction worker with serious injuries.
According to Tim McGuirk of Massachusetts State Police, this morning at 2:15 a.m., State Police responded to the scene of a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 95 north at mile marker 15.5 in Foxborough. The preliminary investigation indicates that a vehicle struck a construction worker as he retrieved a sign from the beginning of a detail setup.
Troopers on scene rendered aid to the victim and applied a tourniquet to his lower leg. Troopers successfully controlled the bleeding and engaged the victim in conversation until EMS arrived to assume care.
In the aftermath of the crash, Troopers subsequently recovered a passenger-side mirror at the scene. The State Police Crime Scene Services Section documented the evidence, and the matter remains under investigation by Troop H Detectives and Troopers from the Foxboro Barracks.
The Massachusetts State Police offered the victim and his family our deepest sympathy in the aftermath of this senseless crash.
“Although he is expected to live, the impact of his injuries illustrates the danger of failing to drive with care in and around work zones.”
Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to report it to State Police by calling the Foxborough Barracks at 508-543-8550.
