Massachusetts State Police, local police, investigating fatal crash that killed 72-year-old

CARVER — Police Chief Marc Duphily, Fire Chief Craig Weston and EMS Chief Michael Ryan report that the Carver Police, Fire and EMS Departments responded Wednesday afternoon to a fatal single-vehicle crash.

At just before 1:00 p.m., the Carver Police, Fire and EMS Departments responded to a reported motor vehicle crash with entrapment on Federal Road.

First responders located a pickup truck that had struck a tree.

The 72-year-old driver was trapped inside the truck when first responders arrived. Firefighters were able to quickly free the driver from the vehicle.

The truck driver was transported by Carver EMS ambulance to Tobey Hospital in Wareham, where he was pronounced deceased. A Boston MedFlight crew assisted Carver EMS.

The crash remains under investigation by the Carver Police Department, with assistance from State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section.
