Massachusetts State Police, local police, hoping for new leads in cold case homicide
Massachusetts State Police and local police are looking for the public’s help to solve a cold case murder.
According to police, Theresa Corley left the Train Stop in Franklin, Massachusetts, late on the night of December 4, 1978, and went with friends to the Presidential Arms Apartments on West Central Street (Route 140). After an altercation there, she stormed out and began the roughly three-mile walk home to Bellingham along Route 140. A truck driver reported seeing her in the early morning hours near Bellingham Center, less than a mile from her house — the last confirmed sighting of Theresa alive. A few days later, her body was discovered off the northbound lane of Interstate 495.
That evening, Theresa had been socializing with numerous people, some of them friends, at both the Train Stop and the Presidential Arms. Investigators believe several of those individuals hold key information about what happened after she left the apartments.
It is believed that those responsible are still alive and that someone knows exactly what led to Theresa’s cruel and senseless death.
The case remains active. Bellingham, Franklin, and Massachusetts State Police continue to pursue every possible lead. Authorities are now asking the public for help in opening new avenues of investigation, urging anyone with information — no matter how small it may seem — to come forward and assist in finally solving the homicide of Theresa Corley.
