Massachusetts State Police issue update on multi-vehicle crash on I-195 in New Bedford
Massachusetts State Police have issued an update concerning a serious highway crash.
According to Trooper Brandon Doherty, at just before 3:45 p.m., MSP was notified of a two-vehicle crash on I-195 East east of exit 24B in the City of New Bedford.
A rack-body truck rolled over which was carrying cylinders meant to store pressurized gas.
I-195 East is shut down in this area with traffic being diverted to Route 140. The ramp from Route 140 North to I-195 East is also shut down.
Cruisers and local fire are on-scene. MSP CVES is enroute.
MassDOT engineers determined that the recovery of vehicles and cylinders will be extensive and due to the nature of the cargo.
No word yet on the severity of injuries.
