Massachusetts State Police issue preliminary investigation into fatal Bristol County highway crash

A person is dead after an early morning highway crash in Bristol County.

According to Sergeant Gregory Jones of Massachusetts State Police Media Relations, at approximately 12:40 p.m. on Thursday, Troopers from the Foxboro Barracks responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 North in the city of Mansfield, near the 12.2 mile marker.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a sedan drove into the rear end of a box truck.

An occupant of the sedan, who has not yet been named, was killed in the crash.

The middle and right travel lanes were closed during the investigation.

The Bristol State Police Detectives Unit along with the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services, and the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section also responded to the scene.
