Massachusetts State Police investigating fatal Route 6 crash that killed 57-year-old man

A Massachusetts man has died from injuries sustained in a highway crash.

According to Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 3:15 p.m. today Troopers assigned to the Yarmouth Barracks responded to reports of a multi-vehicle crash, with serious injuries, on Route 6 eastbound East of Exit 85 in Brewster. Upon the arrival of emergency personnel, they discovered the operator of one of the vehicles suffering life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash. 

 

Preliminary investigation reveals a 2020 Isuzu truck, operated by a 24-year-old man from Yarmouth, traveling westbound, crossed into the eastbound lanes and struck a 2006 Toyota Tundra, operated by a 57-year-old man from Chatham. The Isuzu also struck a 1997 GMC Safari, operated by a 40-year-old man from Yarmouth. The operator of the Toyota, identified as Edward Footer, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The operator of the Isuzu was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries, the operator of the GMC was not injured.  

 

The crash remains under investigation at this time with assistance from Troopers assigned to Collision Analysis Reconstruction, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Crime Scene Services, and Cape and Island’s State Police Detective Unit. Troopers were assisted at the scene by Brewster Fire and Police Departments and MassDOT.
