Massachusetts State Police investigating double fatal crash on Route 495

Massachusetts State Police have released a preliminary investigation into a crash that killed 2 people and injured another.
According to Tim McGuirk of Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 3:45 a.m. this morning, State Police assigned to the Newbury Barracks received a report of a person walking in the median of Interstate 495 in the area of exit 107 in Haverhill.
Upon arrival, Troopers discovered Haverhill Police facilitating medical transport for a person in a nearby parking lot. The patient told police they were involved in a crash with two others.
State Police began searching for the vehicle. Although the crash was not immediately apparent, Troopers eventually located the scene deep into the embankment and trees adjacent to Interstate 495 south in Haverhill. Unfortunately, State Police also located two deceased individuals.
The crash remains under investigation by State Police assigned to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office, Troop A Detectives, the Crime Scene Services Section, the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the Drone Unit.
No information is currently available regarding the identities of the decedents or person medically transported.
