Massachusetts State Police investigating 2-car crash that killed 1, seriously injured 2 others

Stoughton Police, Massachusetts State Police investigators from the Crime Scene Services and Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Sections, and the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office Motor Vehicle Homicide Unit continue to investigate the fatal two-car crash that cost one driver his life early Wednesday morning.

Stoughton police were notified at approximately 6:15 a.m. that a black Cadillac with two male occupants and a Toyota Highlander operated by a Quincy woman had crashed in the vicinity of 1463 Turnpike Street in Stoughton.

Stoughton Fire personnel and police, including Chief Donna McNamara, responded to the scene. All three involved people were transported to Boston Medical Center.

The driver of the Cadillac, Michael Unman, 59, of Mint Hill, North Carolina, was later pronounced dead at Boston Medical Center. His passenger, also from Pennsylvania, was transported to BMC with serious injuries.

The driver of the Toyota has reportedly regained consciousness and has communicated with medical providers. She was apparently heading home from working an overnight shift at an area hotel.

Both cars have been towed to a secure facility and the investigation remains ongoing with no charges or citations in place at this time.

After several hours of closure for investigation and to clear downed wires, the roadway has re-opened to all traffic.
