The name of the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash in Massachusetts has been released.

According to Dave Procopio of Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 9:00 p.m. Thursday, Revere Police and Massachusetts State Police responded to a motorcycle crash on North Shore Road at Agawam Street in Revere that resulted in the death of the operator.

44-year-old Juan Alvarez of East Boston was pronounced deceased at CHA Everett Hospital.

Preliminary investigation by Revere Police and State Police indicates that Alvarez, for reasons that remain under investigation, lost control of his motorcycle and crashed, possibly striking the guardrail, and sustained severe injuries.

Revere Firefighters and a Cataldo Ambulance crew performed attempted life-saving medical aid on scene and the victim was transported to the hospital, and his injuries were ultimately fatal.

Family members were still in shock at the sudden passing of Alvarez and set up a GoFundMe fundraiser for funeral expenses.

The crash remains under investigation by the State Police Detective Unit for Suffolk County, Revere Police, State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
