A driver has been sent to the hospital after a tractor trailer carrying mail crashed into a river.
According to Massachusetts State Police, just before noon, Troopers responded with the Weston Fire Department to a tractor trailer off the road and down a long embankment into the Charles River near the ramp from Route 95 to the Mass Pike.
Upon arrival, responders discovered the driver, who cannot swim, standing atop the truck.
Weston Firefighters safely brought the driver to land.
The operator was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital for evaluation.
Massachusetts State Police say that the tractor trailer was carrying United States mail and that US Postal Inspectors were notified.
MassDOT stated that exit 39 for Mass Pike (I-90) Weston from Route 128/95 north is currently closed.
