Massachusetts State Police capture wanted man out on bail; more charges added
Troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, along with their partners from the United States Marshals, local police, and the Massachusetts Parole Department, Tuesday morning located and arrested a suspect wanted on multiple warrants for weapons and assault crimes.
According to Dave Procopio of Massachusetts State Police, Troopers, Deputy US Marshals, members of a US Marshals Task Force, and Parole Officers apprehended Dwayne Rogers-Flonory, 29.
MSP VFAS Troopers began searching for Rogers-Flonory recently after learning he was wanted for various offenses in Boston. An ensuing investigation revealed several possible locations for the suspect. Early this morning, Troopers developed information indicating that Rogers-Flonory was likely present at an apartment complex in Foxborough.
Troopers and the other officers on the arrest team established surveillance in and around the complex at 400 Foxborough Blvd. and observed a vehicle associated with Rogers-Flonory in the area. At approximately 8:20 a.m., members of the apprehension team observed the suspect walking toward the vehicle. As Troopers and officers moved in to apprehend him, Rogers-Flonory tried to flee on foot, scaling a six-foot fence. With team members in pursuit, he tried to scale a second fence but was apprehended without further incident.
When he was apprehended, Rogers-Flonory was found to be carrying a Glock .45 caliber handgun with a round in the chamber and eight rounds in the magazine, as well as approximately 13 grams of suspected crack cocaine.
Troopers transported Rogers-Flonory to the State Police-Foxborough Barracks, where he was booked on three outstanding warrants as well as new charges. He was charged with Warrant #1: Unlawful carrying of a firearm, second offense; committing a firearm violation while having two prior convictions for violent/drug crimes; carrying a loaded firearm. Warrant #2: Attempted assault and battery with a firearm; carrying a firearm without a license; carrying a loaded firearm; unlawful possession of ammunition. Warrant #3: Breaking and entering in the nighttime; assault with a dangerous weapon.
New charges stemming from the new arrest includes Carrying a loaded firearm; unlawful carrying of a firearm, second or subsequent offense; being a felon in possession of a firearm; possession of a Class B narcotic with intent to distribute; committing a firearm violation while having two prior convictions for violent/drug crimes; resisting arrest.
At the time of the arrest, Rogers-Flonory was out on bail set for a prior firearms arrest. That bail is expected to be revoked by the court in light of today’s arrest. He was transported to Wrentham District Court for arraignment late this morning.
