Massachusetts State Police asks the public to use care as over 400 accidents, 300+ vehicle assists already reported this weekend

Massachusetts State Police are asking the public to take care while driving on Sunday.
The Massachusetts State Police Media Relations Team released data from Sunday’s storm and compared it to previous weekends.

Here are a few notable incidents that MSP announced:
- Saturday, Troopers assigned to the Shelburne Falls Barracks and Troop B Headquarters assisted local police and fire in locating a group of snowmobilers with children who became stuck on trails in Rowe. All parties involved were located and cleared medically.
- At 5:30 a.m., officials closed the right-hand lane of Route 9 west at Cloverdale Road in Newton because of a water main break. The road reopened to normal traffic shortly after 1 p.m.
- Shortly before 9 a.m., a tractor trailer carrying non-hazardous material on Interstate 95 north in Burlington struck the Route 3 overpass bridge. MassDOT officials evaluated the damage to the bridge and determined it remained structurally sound. All travel lanes reopened by 10:30 a.m.
For the safety of motorists, officials have reduced the speed limit on the MassPike to 40 MPH.
