Massachusetts State Police recovered a stolen gun and motorcycle this week in Bristol County.

According to Massachusetts State Police, Troopers from the Troop D Community Action Team were conducting a motor vehicle stop of a motorcycle in New Bedford when the operator attempted to flee. The operator fell off the bike and ran on foot.

After a brief chase, the Troopers apprehended the suspect and placed him into custody.

While conducting a pat frisk, they discovered a loaded M&P Smith and Wesson Bodyguard .380 in the suspect’s pocket. Troopers checked the motorcycle’s VIN and discovered it had been reported stolen out of New Bedford. A query of the firearm’s serial number revealed it was reported stolen out of New Hampshire.

The operator was transported to the Dartmouth Barracks and charged with multiple motor vehicle and firearms charges.

The suspect’s name was not released.
