Massachusetts State Police arrest two in Fall River on gun and drug charges

According to Massachusetts State Police, on Friday evening at about 6 p.m. two men were arrested on gun and drug charges following a motor vehicle stop near the intersection of Second Street and Branch Street in Fall River.

Trooper Robert Twitchell, a recent graduate of the 83rd Recruit Training Troop and his Field Training Officer, Trooper Ryan Toolin, were on patrol when they observed the operator of a 2018 Dodge Charger commit motor vehicle violations. The Troopers stopped the vehicle and, following a subsequent investigation, discovered a quantity of a substance believed to be marijuana and material consistent with the packaging and sale of drugs in the possession of the operator and passenger and in the vehicle.  Additionally, Trooper Twitchell found a loaded Sprigfield XD-45 semiautomatic firearm secured to the passenger’s leg.

The operator, GEORGE LITHGOW, 27, of Brockton, and his passenger JAYMES WILLIAMS 26, of Roxbury, were placed under arrest and booked at the State Police barracks in Dartmouth.

LITHGOW was charged with Possession of Class D Drug with Intent to Distribute and issued a Massachusetts citation for having no working tail lights and for a number plate violation.

WILLIAMS was charged with the following offenses:

  1. Firearm Violation with One Prior Violent Crime;
  2. Carrying a Firearm without a License – 3rd Offense;
  3. Possession of a Large Capacity Weapon or Feeding Device;
  4. Possession of Ammunition without an FID card; and
  5. Possession of Class D Narcotic with Intent to Distribute.

Both men are expected to be arraigned in Brockton District Court today.
