Massachusetts State Police arrest 24-year-old on several charges after pursuit on Route 24

Yesterday, the Troop H Community Action Team successfully apprehended a suspect with several outstanding warrants who had evaded state and local police.
According to Massachusetts State Police, two Troopers assigned to the Troop H Community Action Team observed a Black Maserati on Columbia Road in Dorchester with excessive window tint during their patrol. When the Troopers traveled behind the vehicle, it pulled over into a parking spot. As Troopers activated their emergency lights, the vehicle fled from its stationary position at a high rate of speed. The Troopers did not pursue the vehicle in the interest of community safety.
After relaying a description and direction of flight to their Station Command, the Troopers requested the Commonwealth Fusion Center provide any actionable intelligence about the vehicle. In running a standard query of the Criminal Justice Information System, the Troopers learned that the State Police Gang Unit observed the same vehicle earlier in the day and identified the operator as an active gang member with several active warrants out for his arrest.
Shortly before noon, the H CAT Troopers received intelligence that the vehicle may be traveling on Route 24 in Randolph.
At approximately 2:40 p.m., the vehicle evaded State Police again in Brockton. In the course of making an escape, the vehicle entered Route 24 where the H CAT Troopers had assumed a stationary patrol position at Exit 35A. The Troopers initiated a motor vehicle stop and the vehicle continued to evade police at a high rate of speed with several erratic lane changes and traveling in the breakdown lane.
As the vehicle continued on Route 24 north, State Police followed from a distance with their emergency lights activated. When the vehicle exited the highway at Exit 38A, it crossed over the median into the embankment of the on ramp and become disabled. The operator exited his vehicle in a continued attempt to flee police on foot.
Troopers made chase of the suspect and gave verbal commands to stop. The suspect continued to flee onto Technology Center Drive when the H CAT Troopers lost visual contact. Troopers secured the vehicle and arranged a tow.
A short time later, one of the H CAT Troopers spoke with a bystander who reported seeing a person run into the woods.
Troopers entered the woods and located the suspect sprawled out on his stomach behind a large rock approximately 50 feet into the woods. Troopers took him into custody without further incident.
The suspect is identified as 24-year-old Tumerrick Brown of Pittsfield. In addition to several warrants for firearms, larceny, and motor vehicle offenses, he was charged with driving recklessly, with a suspended license, leaving the scene of property damage, speeding, and traveling in the breakdown lane improperly. Brown is expected to be arraigned today in Norfolk Superior Court today.
