Massachusetts sees second straight day of increases in COVID-19 hospitalizations and average positive test rate
Massachusetts saw an increase in cases, positive test rate, and hospitalizations in Tuesday’s COVID-19 report.
Massachusetts saw 1,006 more positive cases announced today. An increase from Monday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate increased to 1.74%. Sunday’s 1.66% was the lowest it has been since October 22nd.
Massachusetts had seen 892 more positive cases announced yesterday.
The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 560,981 with 21 more reported dead (20 confirmed, 1 probable) for a total of 16,456 (16,123 confirmed, 333 probable).
The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 16,925,691 after 59,078 new molecular tests.
The 7 day average of confirmed COVID-19 deaths is currently 29.7.
Estimated active cases saw a decrease to 26,636.
Hospitalizations have increased in 95 of the last 170 days and 70 of the last 129 and saw an increase of 32, to raise the total to 704. COVID-19 hospitalizations have decreased as of late as there were 2,428 in the Bay State on January 4th. Before the last two days of increases, the total was the lowest since November 11th.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report
According to the March 4th report, Fall River has a 22,7 Average Daily COVID-19 Rate per 100,000 population (Last 14 days) (27.0 last week). New Bedford saw a decrease to 23.6 (was 31.6). Westport also saw a decrease to 18.3 (was 26.4), Swansea is at 20.2 and was 27.3 last week. Somerset also saw a decrease as they sit at 21.2 (was 22.8). Freetown decreased to 32.4 from 35.5. Dartmouth is currently at 23.9 after seeing 27.7 last week. Acushnet saw 31.4 (was 41.7).
19 Massachusetts communities are still in the red (high risk). Blackstone, Chicopee, Clinton, Fall River, Freetown, Hadley, Haverhill, Lawrence, Ludlow, Lynn, Methuen, New Bedford, Peabody, Plainville, Springfield, Sterling, Sutton, West Bridgewater, and Weymouth.
Massachusetts residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine by current status up to March 4th
• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 261,329
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 251,282
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 10,047
Massachusetts Officials have now also issued a “vaccine doses administered and shipped” report updated on March 4th.
