Massachusetts sees over 1,100 COVID-19 cases Saturday as United States sets record for daily cases
Massachusetts saw an increase in cases in Saturday’s COVID-19 report.
Massachusetts has seen 1,128 more positive cases announced today. An increase from Friday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate increased to 1.5% after several increases over the past week.
Massachusetts had seen 968 more positive cases announced yesterday.
The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 146,023 with 8 more reported dead for a total of 9,616.
19,168 tests were performed on new individuals, over 1,200 more than yesterday’s report, to increase the amount of individuals tested to 2,615,142. The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 5,585,169.
The 3 day average of COVID-19 deaths increased to 19 from 17.
Hospitalizations have increased in 26 of the last 40 days, however, they decreased by 19 today to see the total lower to 551.

Westport and Somerset joined much of the Southcoast in the red in the weekly report.
Massachusetts residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine by current status up to October 21st
• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 98,806
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 94,080
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 4,726
As of October 24th, according to the CDC, the United States has seen 8,469,976 cases of COVID-19 with 223,393 reported deaths.
Today the country saw the most reported COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began.
