Massachusetts sees another spike in COVID-19 hospitalizations, positive rate, as total U.S. cases pass 19 million
Massachusetts saw an increase in hospitalizations, and active cases in Monday’s COVID-19 report.
Massachusetts has seen 4,060 more positive cases announced today. An increase from Sunday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate saw an increase to 6.68% from 6.28%. The rate was 3.3 on November 23rd.
Massachusetts had seen 2,973 more positive cases announced yesterday.
The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 342,764 with 48 more reported dead for a total of 12,158.
The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 10,713,593 after 49,772 new molecular tests.
The 7 day average of COVID-19 deaths decreased slightly to 49.
Estimated active cases increased to 80,620.
Hospitalizations have increased in 79 of the last 105 days and 54 of the last 64, and saw an increase by 74 to see the total lower to 2,230.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report
According to the December 23rd report, Fall River has a 103.6 Average Daily Incident Rate per 100,000 (Last 14 days) (109.2 last week) which is a decrease and the thirteenth highest in the state. New Bedford saw a decrease to 100.9 (was 111.5) leaving them fifteenth in the state. Westport is also in the red at 68.6 (was 57.6), Swansea is at 70.8 and was 91.8 last week, and Somerset saw a slight increase to 86.0 (was 81.8). Freetown also saw their rate increase as it now sits at 83.7 from 63.1. Dartmouth is currently at 62.9 after seeing 63.7 last week.
Massachusetts residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine by current status up to December 23rd
• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 170,563
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 139,512
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 31,051
Massachusetts Officials have now also issued a “vaccine doses administered and shipped” report.
