Massachusetts sees 105 new COVID-19 deaths reported as U.S. has record number of newly reported cases
Massachusetts saw an increase in hospitalizations, deaths, and active cases in Sunday’s COVID-19 report.
Massachusetts has seen 3,110 more positive cases announced today. A decrease from Saturday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate saw a decrease to 8.42%. The rate was 3.3 on November 23rd and 6.68% a week ago.
Massachusetts had seen 8,542 more positive cases announced yesterday.
The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 371,097 with 105 more reported dead for a total of 12,610.
The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 11,090,924 after 44,831 new molecular tests.
The 7 day average of COVID-19 deaths is currently 58.
Estimated active cases decreased to 79,261.
Hospitalizations have increased in 83 of the last 111 days and 58 of the last 70 and saw an increase by 11 to see the total raise to 2,291.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report
According to the December 31st report, Fall River has a 102.4 Average Daily Incident Rate per 100,000 (Last 14 days) (103.6 last week) which is a decrease and the twelfth highest in the state, however, the positivity rate increased to 13.60%. New Bedford saw a decrease to 86.8 (was 100.9). Westport is also in the red at 68.6 (was 68.6), Swansea is at 64.9 and was 70.8 last week, and Somerset saw a decrease to 81.4 (was 86.0). Freetown saw their rate increase as it now sits at 90.0 from 83.7. Dartmouth is currently at 68.5 after seeing 62.9 last week.
Massachusetts residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine by current status up to December 31st
• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 180,376
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 151,494
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 28,882
Massachusetts Officials have now also issued a “vaccine doses administered and shipped” report.

As of January 3rd, according to the CDC, the United States has seen 20,346,372 cases of COVID-19 with 349,246 reported deaths.
