Massachusetts schools see 674 COVID-19 cases the past 7 days, Fall River 2nd in staff, New Bedford 3rd overall
COVID-19 cases among Massachusetts schools decreased this week along with a decrease in some area communities.
According to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, a total of 462 new COVID-19 cases were reported among K-12 students from February 24 to February 10. 212 were reported for staff making the overall total in Massachusetts schools for the past week at 674.
The last report, which was for January 28 to February 3, revealed that 908 tested positive. 583 of the positives were students and 325 were staff.
The report only includes positive cases of students and staff who have been in school for either in-person or hybrid learning. Remote learning cases are not counted.
Here are the statistics from some area cities and towns from February 4 to February 10.
Acushnet: 1 student
Attleboro: 4 student and 2 staff
Dartmouth: 7 students
Fairhaven: 7 students
Fall River: 7 staff
New Bedford: 13 students and 3 staff
Plymouth: 4 students
Seekonk: 3 students
Somerset: No cases
Swansea: 1 staff
Taunton: 7 students and 2 staff
Westport: 5 students
Fall River had the second most staff cases in the state. New Bedford had the third most overall and the third most student cases.
