Massachusetts schools see 476 new COVID-19 cases, see where your community stands
COVID-19 cases among Massachusetts schools decreased this week along with a decrease in some area communities.
According to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, a total of 343 new COVID-19 cases were reported among K-12 students from February 25 to March 3. 133 were reported for staff making the overall total in Massachusetts schools for the past week at 476.
The last report, which was for February 11 to February 24, revealed that 582 tested positive. 373 of the positives were students and 209 were staff.
The report only includes positive cases of students and staff who have been in school for either in-person or hybrid learning. Remote learning cases are not counted.
Here are the statistics from some area cities and towns from February 25 to March 3.
Acushnet: No cases
Attleboro: 2 students
Dartmouth: 6 students
Fairhaven: No cases
Fall River: 6 students and 4 staff
New Bedford: 3 students and 1 staff
Plymouth: 7 students
Seekonk: No cases
Somerset: No cases
Swansea: 1 student
Taunton: 3 students and 2 staff
Westport: 3 students and 1 staff
Fall River had the third most staff cases in the state. After several weeks of high rankings, New Bedford saw a major reduction in school cases this week.
