Massachusetts registered sex offender arrested on 4 warrants
A registered sex offender living in southeastern Massachusetts has been arrested on several warrants.
According to police, at the beginning of his shift on the afternoon of Friday, April 25th, Plymouth Police Motor Officer Andrew Whelan became aware that four criminal arrest warrants had been issued for a male party, 57-year-old Christopher Chassey, who was believed to be living with family in Plymouth. Chassey had allegedly returned to Plymouth from Middleborough without notifying either Plymouth or Middleborough Police as required by law. Middleborough Police sought and received an arrest warrant for the latest alleged offense.
After some good old-fashioned police work to narrow down a search area and with assistance from Officer Kevin Ciavarra, Officer Whelan learned Chassey might be along the bicycle path in North Plymouth. Officer Whelan was able to search the area on his motorcycle where it was believed Chassey might be located. Officer Whelan found him a short time later on the path near Holmes Terrace. Despite initially trying to hide his face from Officer Whelan, Chassey was cooperative and answered to his own name. Officer Whelan placed Chassey into custody without incident on the four warrants and walked him out to an accessible location to await cruiser transport to the station.
Upon arrival to Plymouth Police Headquarters, Chassey was booked on a new arrest warrant:
Warrant #1
Wareham District Court, Middleborough Police Department
