Massachusetts police, company, provide laptops to students in need in New Bedford, Fall River, Brockton
Thanks to police in Massachusetts and a business, local children received a much-needed lift.
According to Massachusetts State Police, this week, as part of the Department’s Excellence Initiative, students from New Bedford, Fall River and Brockton received refurbished laptops to allow them to better keep up with their schoolwork.
“Major Edward Blackwell – Troop D Commander, Troop D Community Liaison Jesse Walker III, the Massachusetts State Police Office of Recruitment and Diversity, Police Activities League of Massachusetts, All Scholastic Athletic Program, and AT&T distributed 100 laptops to students in need.
“The laptop giveaway was funded by AT&T’s five-year nationwide program to donate laptops and software to students in need for digital literacy programs to close the digital divide.
“The Police Activities League and the Massachusetts State Police worked together to help identify the students in need.
“Before leaving the event at the Dennison Memorial Community Center, the students and parents had pizza and the opportunity to talk to our Troopers.”
