Massachusetts passes 120,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases, nears 8,900 deaths as hospitalizations increase in today’s report
Massachusetts saw an increase in hospitalizations for the second straight day in Friday’s COVID-19 report.
Massachusetts has seen 219 more positive cases announced today. A decrease from Thursday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate has stayed at 0.9%.
Massachusetts had seen 393 more positive cases announced yesterday.
The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total cases to 120,038 with 22 more reported dead for a total of 8,892.
17,559 tests were performed on new individuals, over 14,000 less than yesterday’s report, to increase the overall total to 2,600,312. The amount of individuals tested is now 1,819,144.
Hospitalizations have decreased in 86 of the last 116 days, however, hospitalizations increased by 21 today to see the total rise to 333.

• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 80,709
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 77,940
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 2,769
According to the CDC, as of September 4th, the total amount of COVID-19 cases in the country is 6,132,074 with 186,173 dead.
