Massachusetts motorcycle rider killed in high-speed crash on Route 495
A Massachusetts man has been killed in a serious motorcycle crash.
According to Dave Procopio of Massachusetts State Police, just before 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, Massachusetts State Troopers responded to a crash on Route 495 northbound in Amesbury that resulted in the death of a motorcycle operator.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2009 Yamaha YZFR6 was being operated erratically and at a high rate of speed by Kruise A. Herring Delgado, a 34-year-old male from Lowell.
According to evidence gathered by Troopers, Delgado attempted to accelerate through a tight gap between a tractor-trailer and a 2021 Tesla. The Yamaha possibly struck the rear of the trailer being pulled by the tractor cab and then impacted the driver’s side of the Tesla. The motorcycle then overturned, with the operator being dislodged and the bike sliding off the roadway into the grass median.
The Tesla operator, a 30-year-old Maine man, pulled over and remained on scene, apparently uninjured. The tractor-trailer did not stop, and it is unclear at this time whether its driver was aware of the crash.
Delgado was transported to Anna Jacques Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The crash remains under investigation by the State Police-Newbury Barracks, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
