Massachusetts mother killed, another seriously injured in highway crash
A Massachusetts mother has been killed and a passenger seriously injured after a crash over the weekend.
According to Dave Procopio of Massachusetts State Police, just after 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Massachusetts State Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 90 east in Chicopee that resulted in the death of the operator.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2016 Nissan Rogue was eastbound when, for reasons still under investigation, the operator lost control rolled over and crashed off the left side of the road into the median.
The driver, Coreena Torres, a 42-year-old female from Palmer, was determined to be deceased at the scene. The passenger a 35-year-old male from Palmer was transported Baystate medical Center with serious injuries.
A co-worker of Torres at a Massachusetts Home Depot stated that she will be sorely missed. A friend was heartbroken for Torres’ children that will now be without their mother.
The crash remains under investigation by the State Police-Westfield Barracks, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
