Massachusetts mother charged with murdering her 6 and 7-year-old children

The Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office has obtained an arrest warrant for 49-year-old Janette MacAusland of Wellesley, charging her with two counts of murder of her children ages 6 and 7.

MacAusland is currently held in Vermont and is anticipated to appear on Monday in Bennington County Superior Court on the fugitive from justice charge.

The Massachusetts State Police and Wellesley Police Department are working closely with the Vermont State Police to ultimately have the defendant transported to Massachusetts to answer to the murder charges.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. Friday evening, Wellesley Police received a call from a Vermont Police Department requesting a well-being check on family members believed to be in a home on Edgemoor Avenue in Wellesley. Wellesley Police responded to that home and located two children deceased inside the residence.

The victims were students in the Wellesley Public School System. Counselors will be on site on Monday to provide support and services.

The identities of the children have not yet been released.
