Massachusetts man’s love of a board game turned into $1 million State Lottery win
A Massachusetts man had fireworks on the Fourth of July but not in the way you may think.
According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Joel Laffin of Marshfield is the winner of a $1 million prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “$4,000,000 Monopoly Doubler” $10 instant ticket game.
Laffin, who played his winning ticket on July 4th, chose the cash option on his prize and received a one-time payment of $650,000 (before taxes). Laffin, an avid player of the Monopoly boardgame, says he plans on investing his winnings.
He purchased his winning ticket at Hubbard’s Cupboard, 29 Main St. in Marshfield. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
